Garlic is a savoury favourite for many of our meals and also has many health benefits. This little bundle of goodness contains powerful anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties. Garlic is great for heart and blood health, and can be used as an anti-inflammatory.
After cutting, allow your garlic to sit before using it. Fifteen minutes is ideal. This allows the alliinase enzymes time to convert to allicin. Allican is what creates the beneficial sulfur compounds that this particular allium (onion family) is known for. These compounds aid in a process called sulfatiion, which enables the body to remove several toxins by first breaking them down.
Add garlic to soups, stews, salads, dips, or any of your favourite savoury dishes. Enjoy!
